Hampshire Second Team v Sussex – Tuesday 26th July 2022

Hayling Golf Club was sparkling in the summer sunshine as the Hampshire Ladies Second Team arrived bright and early, to play Sussex in their first Stovold Trophy match of 2022.
There was great foursomes golf on display in the morning with lots of birdies and long driving, assisted by the dry, bouncy fairways. The lunchtime score of 2 matches to 1 in Sussex’s favour was well deserved. All to play for in the afternoon…
More lovely golf was played after lunch with very tight score lines. However, as Sussex’s Sally observed, the Hampshire Girls fired up the afterburners and played spectacularly on the back nine. This resulted in 5 wins to the home team and 1 halved match. Overall, Hampshire won by 6 1/2 matches to 2 1/2.
Very well done to Georgina, Tammy, Diane, Becky, Izzy and Jenny for representing their county in an exemplary manner. Grateful thanks also to Hayling Golf Club, our friends from Sussex and to County Captain Jill and President Jane for their fantastic support.
