Junior Autumn Meeting

Junior Girls Autumn Meeting Winners

It was a delight to see five new faces join the field of 19 in the closing event of the Hampshire Junior Girls 2024 season. We were warmly welcomed by Paulton's Golf Centre for our round, the only thing that wasn't warm was the weather. Persistent drizzle became heavy rain as the final groups made their way through the last few holes. While it certainly dampened clothes, it didn't seem to dampen sprits out on the course.

For our shepherdesses and those of us spectating around the course, there was plenty to enjoy. Some great drives and some fabulous short game skills (including a couple of chip ins and long putts) on show throughout the afternoon.

Conditions at Autumn Meetings often prove to be challenging and with preferred lies in place and greens slowing in the rain, this year's event followed suit. As always, there were some really good scores returned at the end of the round and the top five entering our winners circle for one last time this year. Our best newcomer and winner of the President's Cup was Megan Jones from Hockley, she was joined by Tia Brammer and Millie Atthis in 3rd and 2nd Nett places respectively. The scratch prize was won by Georgia Richardson who was 1 over par for the day gross and alongside her was the winner of this year's meeting, Lily Stroud, who was awarded the Dorothy Hayward Salver with a nett score of 38 points.

A huge well done to all who took part and especially to our prize winners. What a great way to end a winning season for Hampshire Junior golf.

These events are not possible without the wonderful support of our host clubs and amazing Hampshire volunteers. With that in mind I'd like to extend an enormous thank you to Paulton's Golf Centre for allowing access to the course and to the fantastic team that looked after us in on the day and in the planning phase. I'd also like to thank Carron for refereeing out on the course, President Jane for starting the girls and to Jane and Sarah for taking care of the girls experiencing their first Hampshire event. Finally, a big thank you to Pauline for administering the day and to the competitions team for all their support in preparing for the day to make it so successful.

We can't wait to see you all again for more competitions, training and Hampshire Junior successes in 2025.
