For the 2nd year running Hampshire missed out on winning the South Region County Match Week by virtue of individual games won.
Representing Hampshire in this year's County Match Week are:
Play got underway on Monday morning where we took on Surrey, last year's South Region winners and National champions. As expected it was a very tight match which in which Hampshire managed to battle out an excellent 3 - 2 win. A great start. After lunch we took on a strong looking Kent side who had also won their morning match. Kent came out of the blocks strongly and built leads which we were unable to claw back. A 1 - 4 defeat meant we would go into day two needing victories against both Sussex and Middlesex.
On Tuesday morning another closely fought match resulted in a 3 - 2 victory against Sussex. Our final match in the afternoon resulted in an excellent 4 - 1 win over Middlesex which ultimately didn't prove to be quite good enough. Hampshire, Kent and Surrey were all tied on 3 wins, with Kent progressing to the National Finals by virtue of individual games won.
We wish Kent the very best of luck when they play in the National Finals which will be at Stoneham.
