A typical April day awaited our Junior Girls at Skylark and while the skies threatened throughout the afternoon, our 20 girls managed to stay relatively dry. My thanks to our County President Jane Scott, who started all 5 groups off at the first tee before walking with the final group. It was lovely to see such a crowd of spectators and plenty of Hampshire blue around the first tee wishing all the girls well for their rounds.
Skylark presented a good challenge for our young golfers and was especially tricky in areas off the fairway. As always the girls looked like they were having good fun out on the course, taking the good shots and the more challenging ones in their stride. There were lots of great shots to celebrate including some excellent ball striking from the tee and some lovely long putts making their way into the hole.
A big well done to all the girls who were teeing it up for the first time at a Hampshire event, we really hope you enjoyed the day and that you'll be back again.
The scores were very close at the top with a few placed being determined by count back.
A massive well done to our scratch winner Abby Dymott who had a steady round including a nice birdie two on 17 to secure 27 scratch points. Our meeting winner and taking home the trophy was Niamh Magee from Royal Winchester GC with a magical score of 40 points which included six rather nice pars.

Thanks to all our volunteers who played a role in making today's event happen including Noan Nicol and the competitions team, our referees Di Stock and Carron Schusler, shepherds Kate Dymott and Donnamarie Lewis. Importantly, a really big thank you to Skylark Golf Club for allowing us to host the event here and looking after us all so well before and during the event.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the next event which will be the Junior Championship at Brokenhurst Manor on Sunday 16th July.
